Diving into an Bizarre Steam Game Trial: Guiding a Poop on a Quest to Reach the Toilet
Steam Next Fest is now live, and enthusiasts have discovered plenty of entertaining independent titles. However, one is particularly notable for its unconventional concept. Named Unko Technica, this retro-inspired platformer lets you play a hero that is literally a dung trying to navigate to a restroom. For those curious, "Unko" translates to "poop."
The gameplay is straightforward: you only need a one button to leap. In one hundred fifty stages, encounter tough enemies and unlock a store to acquire outfits for your fecal avatar.
Plan your movements carefully, as a error forces starting over. Jump using floating orbs to launch yourself higher, navigate disappearing surfaces, and activate switches to open hidden paths. Collect UN-KOINS for buying more difficult stages in which the action intensifies.
Visually, the experience features vibrant level designs and an amazing soundtrack. Its minimalist visual style with morphing basic polygons could recall fans of beloved games like Earthbound.
Although hard to think of previous releases where you control a dung character, gaming frequently included scatological themes. As an illustration, in Death Stranding, players make explosives from character droppings. Examples include Palworld and Ark: Survival Evolved use dung as plant food. And of course, fecal references is present extensively in the adventure The Stick of Truth.
Regardless of its goofy idea, Unko Technica has already received significant recognition, including taking top honors at a major publisher's GYAAR Studio in 2023. This trial version is ready now on Steam, with the final release scheduled to debut on PC on November 19.
